Are you planning or wishing to attend your local or favorite anime convention, but haven't paid for registration? Merespace is holding it's first real contest in order to help a lucky anime fan(s) earn a free membership to any anime convention of thier choosing.

How to Enter:

This will be a cosplay/masquerade contest. All you need to do is send/post a video clip of anything from a basic impression of your character to a BIG masquerade skit. I will be posting a video opening the big contest on YouTube.com (link is below), which will explain the instructions (in case none of you feel like reading, LOL!) Reply to that video with your skit clip along with your name(s), age, e-mail, the character you're playing, and the convention you wish to attend. If you are not a YouTube.com member or don't want to be, you can send your video and the same info through my e-mail (MereD13@aol.com) and I will post it up for you, with your permission, of course. Please Have your videos done, uploaded and ready by Saturday, January 20th 2007. That's when we'll be no longer accepting entries. After that will depend on how many entries we get. To start, I, along with a few other judges will choose out of those entries. If we end up getting more than enough to choose from, we may have our viewers vote for who deserves their free membership most.  This contest will be judged by performance, only.  If you wish to focus on craftsmanship, then u must match the character as well as your costume does. So, please don't send us any clips of you just standing there in your costume (unless that's all your characer does)

PRIZES:

Grand Prize: I, Mere, host of MereSpace, will personally pay the winner their membership to any convention they are attending. This prize ONLY involves the convention membership. This does not include travel fees, hotel fees, or merchandise.

Runner up: A $10 gift card to either Barnes n Noble or Borders

2nd Runner Up: A MereSpace/Anime Gift Box

RULES:

1. You can only enter this contest if you KNOW FOR A FACT that you want to attend and will be attending the convention that you have chosen as your possible grand prize. Registrations are NON-refundable and I don't wish to waste my money if the winner can't go.  Plus, any entries that involve children under the age of 12 must confirm and prove that they will be accompanied by an adult there (as all convention rules say). 

2. Only one entry per person/group. It won't count if the same person is in two different groups. ONE PER PERSON.

3. All characters MUST be from either an anime or video game (Personally made up characters DO NOT COUNT!)

4. If cosplaying in a group, There can only be a maximum of 4 people (I can only afford so many memberships). NO exceptions.

5. You don't necessarily have to wear ALL if your costume if you don't want to or can't. BUT, You MUST have at least a PART of your costume on while playing your skit. (Example: you can wear just the wig or just the clothes, etc.)

6. As I've mentioned on the list of prizes, the grand prize will ONLY pay for the convention memberships and ONLY memberships. This does not include travel fees, hotel fees, or merchandise fees. If you win, you have your membership. How you're gonna get there? You're on your own on that one.
